Surprisingly easy, now that I stop to think about it. This family is great to travel with, and people notice. Carolyn, the hostess at the local Uno’s Chicago Grill, came up to us and asked, “Are you homeschooled?” When we said yes, she told us that she could tell. She was a schoolteacher for 20 years, she said, and can tell when a family is homeschooled: disciplined and polite. We’ve heard that before, and it’s always nice to get a pat on the back. Good old Caroline. Maybe the California judge who ruled homeschooling unconstitutional<\/a> should have a talk with her.<\/p>\n

Our hotel<\/a> in Williamsburg is a Howard Johnson Inn, and we like it. We’re going to be here a total of six days, so Brenda took extra care in finding a good one. If you go to the site, check out the photo of the pool. Nice, clear image…but today, you’d see steam rising from it! That pool is HOT! You’d think it was a sauna; actually, it’s only a few degrees cooler than the hot tub.<\/p>\n

Most of the family is in Colonial Williamsburg<\/a>. I came back to the hotel around lunchtime with Tommy, Zane, and Nellie. Zane wasn’t feeling that great, so I am giving him the afternoon off. Tommy wanted to go with me, and I think Brenda decided Nellie wanted to go, too.
