Little Adventures

When I first sat down at this computer to blog, I thought I would give you an overview of the day. But now that I think about it, that would be kind of boring, wouldn’t it? The coolest parts of books are the little sub-plots, the extra bits tossed in to make the whole a little sweeter. So thats what I’m going to blog about today. If you prefer the overview, you might as well skip my post. But if you’re like me and enjoy the little things, the little adventures, then read on.

Our little adventure from yesterday was at Valley Forge Visitor Center. At the outside of the building, there were sloping walls made of brick climbing up the hills at the side of the entrance. These walls seemed to be at just the right angle so that you could get a running start, run half-way up the side, where you would then slide –screaming, if you’re me– back down. Some of the better climbers (Tommy, Polly, and Papa) actually made it all the way up at the highest part of wall. After racing up the highest side, getting stuck near the very top and getting rescued by my father, I chose to go with Zane to the not-so-high-because-not-all-of-us-are-born-monkeys wall. Zane and I had a blast climbing up this wall and then sliding down again. We did it so many times I was afraid Zane would rip his pants.

A funny thing that I was going to mention earlier happened a couple days ago in the Penn Station. As papa mentioned, he kept his credit card and drivers license in his shoe. Well, in order to keep this fact hidden from those who might be tempted to tackle him, wrestle off his shoes and get the money, he used us as a human wall to hide him while he removed his footwear (Converse All Stars) and got his credit card out. This is one of the squillion things big families are good for.

  1. Allie, your papa is a funny man. You will find out that fathers will use their families for all kinds of silly things. Of course, it helps to be a silly papa that stores his money in his shoe. Your blog has caused me to LOL today.
