The Reptile House

The most interesting exhibit at the National Zoo was the Reptile House. Egyptian cobras have incredibly cute faces if you haven’t already noticed. I wish they’d let us pick them up, unfortunately they seemed a bit thin so I decided not to break through the glass and risk an immediate trip to the ER. Impressive green anacondas draped over a tree branch a few windows down. It’s the largest in the world weighing several times any football player you can think of. The gaboon viper was my favorite. Instead of several bands of a few colors, this reptile is covered with a cylinder of circles and squares which I’d love to have drawn. Lounging near the exit, aldabra tortoises walked like Atlas under the weight of the world. “Alex” is 80 years old at this present moment and looks like an overgrown ottoman.

  1. This sounds fun! I want to go! Lol @ “Alex” the 80-year-old tortoise who looks like an “overgrown ottoman”…. Sounds like he’d be an uncomfortable ottoman at that too!

  2. So, I talked to my Annie who is also in D.C. this week and she was like, “are the Darren Cacy’s in D.C.? Because I saw them at a stoplight?!”
    What are the chances?!
